Nick's Family Restaurant: Jefferson City's Home for Comfort Food & Desserts

It was perfect for a family dinner with our kids! The restaurant was clean, the food delicious and reasonably priced, the staff was friendly and polite, and we especially appreciated the ice cream at the end (I thought it would just be soft serve, but they had peppermint, cookie dough and rocky road. It was excellent!).

10/10 every time, always sounds good, plate and drink for $15 + enough for leftovers. Worth the drive from Columbia.

Can't say enough good things about this place! Everything was fresh from the lemonade to mashed potatoes. They sat us away from the dining groups without being asked, staff worked well with each other and were friendly. Added to my Jeff City Favorites!

What a great place for some honest-to-goodness homestyle food! We flew in for lunch and (unfortunately) were in enough of a bind on time that we didn't even look at the menus. One of the cooks (possibly the manager) seated us and we asked what would be fast. He suggested a couple of 2-piece chicken plates. He said they would come with mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, cole slaw, apple sauce and bread. No discussion about price. I'm pretty sure the food arrived in less than 5 minutes and was piping hot. The mashed potatoes were from scratch, the gravy was thick and slightly peppery, the green beans were typical (ditto for the slaw) but it was the chicken that stole the show. Hot, crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside (I somehow wound up with two breasts) and perfectly seasoned. Had I grown up in the south with a grandma who fried chicken in a cast-iron skillet this is how I believe it would have tasted. Yum! They had desserts available too but zero interest between me and my 130-pound companion. The total bill including tip was a hair over $11 each. We hustled back to the plane that we parked on the ramp about 100' away and were airborne within ten minutes of leaving the restaurant. Can't wait to get back here again and see what else they have cooking.

Locals rave about the place and the atmosphere is really cozy and cute. Service is friendly enough and efficient. Food is average. But we come here every time we're in Jeff City because our local family loves it.

The best food in Jefferson City. Everything is made from scratch, and you can tell. I would also like to say they make the best fish I have had in my life. It tasted like I was eating Michelin star scallops. The way they pull this off is by only making 3 things, chicken, fish, and ham. You can have these Lamberts style where you can have more until you are surely full. All this for $14. If you havent been here, treat yourself.

We ordered ahead and took our food to go. The restaurant jad a very cool atmosphere. I wished we would have had time to dine in! Food was fresh and hot. $14 for a 4 piece catfosh plate with 3 sodes and bread. Good value for the price! Definitely would recommend Nick's!!!

Absolutely DELICIOUS food! My husband got the tenderloin, I got the country fried steak. So yummy! Great prices, Bathrooms clean, staff super nice. We will absolutely be back!
